About the Workshop

Tourism industry in Singapore is growing very quickly and more people from around the world are visiting every year. As Singapore is working towards a world class destination for leisure, business and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibition), it is important that the infrastructure and services are ready for visitors who have special needs — the people with disability and the frail elderly. We are gaining momentum in the upgrading of our hotels and attractions for barrier free access, the next logical step is to train and prepare people working in the service industry to be ready to handle these special guests safely, respectfully and confidently. When we play host to visitors from all over the world, we are representing Singapore and everything unique about it. This workshop will equip you with the basic knowledge and hands-on skill to create an exceptional and memorable Uniquely Singapore experience for our special visitors.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the course, the trainees should

  • Understand the types of disability.
  • Understand the requirement of barrier free access.
  • Understand the difficulties faced by people with disabilities.
  • Gain knowledge on the devices or equipments commonly used to gain independence.
  • Be proficient in the planning and operation to meet the needs of guests with special needs.
  • Be able to safely, respectfully and confidently handle guests with special needs.
