START Centre has four main business activities, listed as follows:
START Centre provide quality consulting services to local and international ART technology manufacturers and service providers that wish to exploit the fast growing Asian markets. Serving as a one-stop business development service centre for businesses from developed ART technology markets (e.g. N. America, Europe, Australia, etc.) to enter the Asian markets, using Singapore as a regional HQ. Various business models are available:
- Provide one-off consultation and support services in the setting up of Regional HQ offices in Singapore (with tax benefits), setting up of factory offices, etc.
- Provide partnership program, injecting funds and expertise in setting up of Regional offices in Singapore.
- Other possible business model and approaches are also available upon negotiations
START Centre seek, identify and promote innovations in ART technology with good market potential from local and regional institutions, companies or individuals, and provide services and supports towards successful commercialization. Partnering with alliance companies to distribute ART technology commercial products from Asia to developed markets and vice versa.
- Support inventor(s) in the start up process through injection of funds, and expertise.
- License technologies from inventors or institutions for commercialization.
- Distribution of technologies via locally established networks to gain entry into new markets.
START Centre is working closely with local and regional qualification authorities to establish standards for ART technology products in Singapore and the region.
Depending on complexity of product technologies, various packages are available upon request.
Qualification of technologies provides assurance to local market end users and allows market penetrations.
Electric and Mechanical Wheelchair Testing and Certification (ANSI/RESNA, SADMERC Code, CE Marking EMC testing and for FDA Clearance)
As an independent, third-party testing laboratory, START Centre puts its substantial skills and resources to work in the performance and comparative testing of your electric wheelchair or scooter. We provide:
- Test and report for compliance with the ANSI/RESNA standard for powered wheelchairs and scooters and also for the European standard EN 12184
- Testing services for SADMERC coding purposes
- Testing of the Generic Limits for Roller Fatigue and Drop tests to the demanding SADMERC endurance requirements
- Full range of ANSI/RESNA tests that include Static Stability, Dynamic Stability, Effectiveness of Brakes, Environmental Tests, Crash Testing, Acceleration, Obstacle Climbing as well as all of the Power and Control Systems tests
- Full range of performance testing including functionality, energy efficiency, durability, reliability, and more
- Full range of performance tests to many FDA Guidance Documents, AAMI and ANSI standards
- unique testing facilities for specialized testing including EMC testing to ANSI/RESNA and BS EN 12184 requirements
- Full range of outdoor environmental testing
- Testing to the full range of EMC testing per CISPR11 so as to meet the ANSI/RESNA mandate that: "Electric powered wheelchairs should operate without introducing significant electromagnetic disturbance to the environment and should operate without significant degradation of operational performance in the presence of electromagnetic disturbances that can be expected use."
START Centre is recognized for testing of manual and electrical wheelchairs to the ANSI/RESNA/FDA and European EN 12184 requirements in Asia
This involves Events, Conference, Workshops, & Trainings, for the promoting and organizing international conventions, exhibitions, conferences, tradeshows and workshops for ART technology professionals, industrial players, service providers, VWOs, policy makers, consumers, medical practitioners, academicians, etc. locally and internationally.
Flagship conference, international Conference for Rehabilitative Engineering & Assistive Technology (i-CREATe) provides an excellent platform for partners, manufacturers, professionals to gather and share their expertise. Allows review of market potential through showcasing of technologies.
Trainings allow certification of professionals and support education of technology usage to improve quality of life.
Reputed local and international speakers are invited to conduct Workshops for local and regional professionals on latest technologies and methodologies available.
